ABOUT
The philosophy behind my work.
The beliefs, values, and professional foundations that inform my therapeutic approach.
I’m Eryn, a Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
My interest in psychology developed from a long-standing curiosity about people: how we think, what influences our behaviour, and why the same experience can affect people in very different ways. Over time, I became increasingly interested in applying this knowledge in a practical setting and in the opportunity to work directly with people. Counselling and psychotherapy became a natural extension of this interest, combining an understanding of human behaviour with meaningful work with individuals and their experiences.
My approach to therapy is grounded, collaborative and evidence-informed. I aim to provide a professional, respectful and non-judgemental environment where people can speak openly about what is happening in their lives. I recognise that difficulties rarely exist in isolation, and that a person's circumstances, relationships, values and experiences can all be relevant to understanding what they are going through. I therefore take a broader view of each person's situation rather than focusing only on the issue that brings them to therapy.
Trust, honesty, consistency and clear professional boundaries are important to the way I work. I aim to create a reliable space where people can reflect on their experiences, consider difficult decisions and gain greater clarity about what matters to them. Therapy can provide an opportunity to step back from the demands of everyday life and approach challenges with greater perspective and understanding.
Outside of my professional work, I have a particular interest in dogs, travel, simplicity and intentional living. Living with my own dog has deepened my appreciation of communication, trust and responsibility, while travelling has broadened my perspective on people, culture and the choices we make about how we live. These interests have contributed to my appreciation of simplicity and the importance of being intentional about what deserves our time, energy and attention.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling, a Bachelor of Psychological Science and a Bachelor of Training and Development. I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association and am committed to ongoing professional development, evidence-informed practice and maintaining high ethical and professional standards
